Signs Your Garage Door Might Require Repair

Issues caught early have a better chance at effective repairs, so it’s good to know the conditions that signal a potential problem. Here’s what you should know:

Slow to Open and Close: If your door seems to take a long time to respond to the push of your remote-control button, it might be time for a check. Ideally, it would open or close within a few seconds of pushing that button.

Noisier than Usual: Most doors produce noise upon opening or closing, but you are likely to be familiar with your door’s typical sounds. If you notice any unusual noises or loudness, it’s best to have it looked at.

Door Won’t Open, Close, or Gets Stuck Halfway: This calls for repair. There could be a bad connection between the control panel and the door, or your springs may be broken or close to breaking,

Sagging: If your door may sag if the balance requires adjustment. One way to tell is to open your door manually and leave it at the halfway mark. If it moves in either direction, its balance likely need to be adjusted.

Door Comes Off Its Tracks: A door that travels off its tracks can pose a danger so it’s best to always have this checked by a professional. Sometimes unnoticeable damage will cause a door to slip from the tracks.
